We are proud to post pictures from the graduation ceremony of our two new graduate veterinary agents, Nadege Cadet and Alcima Decembre on August 8, 2018. Thank you to our sponsors who have helped us provide this educational opportunity to these outstanding individuals!!! The certificates they receive from this school are approved by the Haitian national government which gives our graduates national recognition of their skills!

Nadege and Decembre have been working in Mombin Crochu steadily during their time at the technician school. They continue to participate in 2-3 mobile clinics per month around the area. They provide community animal care and staff our small "pharmacy" in Mombin every Wednesday, which is market day. On market day, many people travel to Mombin to sell and buy goods and now are in the habit of bringing animals to the "pharmacy" so they may receive veterinary attention. We are so proud of our new graduates!!.
We are also very proud to announce that we have been able to sponsor a third student for the 2018-2019 school year at Ag Horizon Veterinary Technician school. The GDAC advisory boards selected Marc Milien, a man who has already been providing veterinary care to the community, to go to the school this year. I am extremely happy with this choice as Marc has proven his loyalty and dedication to this community and added formal training will make him a stronger provider of veterinary care. Unfortunately I don't have a great picture of him yet (he's the one giving the shot).

On our to-do list for this year was purchase of oxen and a plow to use in the garden to speed up the tilling and planting process. We can take that off now as our group has been able to purchase oxen and a plow! We have also accumulated about 30 goats which will form a stable herd and act as a source of known goats to give away. We will no longer have to purchase unknown goats from the market. This should allow us to select good breeding animals and improve the genetic quality of the animals in the community. I remember 5 years ago, at the first give-away, seeing goats given away that had just been bought at market with poor udders, missing teeth, misshapen feet and uncertain health status. Now we have a stable herd and selected bucks to improve genetic quality! We have truly come a long way!! Thank you, Sponsors, for helping us with these activities.
